Discovered yesterday that I somehow still had a $1.50/4week games subscription (that I quit using long ago and thought I canceled). Thanks for reminding me to cancel it this am.
They can't even have my less than $20/year that I didn't see coming out of my account.
🧵1/The Dept of Ed enforces the Individuals w/ Disabilities in Education Act, IDEA, which mandates that public schools provide Free Appropriate Public Education, FAPE, in the Least Restrictive Environment, LRE. Disabled & special needs kids must be appropriately educated, not ignored, shuttered away.
2/These kids may have 504 Plans or IEPs that enable them to learn on par with their nondisabled peers. EXAMPLE: My kiddo is gifted, brilliant & became disabled at age 10. He’s now a Mech Engineering undergrad w/ a terrific future because public school wasn’t allowed to abandon him. The IDEA matters.
3/Public schools are OFTEN scofflaws re: IDEA compliance & it routinely takes intervention by attorneys & the Dept of Ed’s Office of Civil Rights (OCR) to rectify. With no OCR, tens of millions of disabled kids will be lost. Who benefits from that? DEI is focused more than on just race. It’s…
4/acknowledging We the People are widely diverse in abilities, religion, color, national origin, sex, gender, gender identity, gender expression, sexual orientation, familial status, age, genetics…so using these as reasons to discriminate or exclude is and must remain illegal. Keep the DOE & DEI! /🧵
It’s insane how many one-sided, anti diversity, equity, and inclusion stories the @nytimes.com has been putting out lately. And they won’t publish any rebuttals or contrary opinions.
This is the guy who’s the most up front about his dishonesty, which i guess is a form of honesty, but then even though he tells you what he’s doing, he keeps getting asked to talk about the stuff he lies about instead of the stuff he doesn’t lie about.
Of course, if they dismantle the Department of Education the children of the rich, will not be affected. It is the less fortunate children of color. The division and the oppression begins.🥺🤔
I know division and oppression has always existed in the school system. i live in NY. But, now they Will take away opportunities for advancement. Continue to blatantly oppress the less fortunate. Now it has become a target.
