The reason COVID-19 became a political issue is that pandemics aren't good for an economy. Economics was Trump's hedge against falling popularity come election. So Trump did everything to deny / ignore reality. No matter who died.

I went to the ER in Portland with an ear infection over the weekend and flu symptoms. I joked that it was bird flu and started making bird noises. The PA looked at me and said, “it might be,” and explained that they’ve had a few cases that could have only been transmitted from person-to-person.

Oh, this is bad. Because person-to-person spread will lead to the extremely serious mutations whose infections have required dialysis, and ECMO requiring critical care staff and technical equipment that will not support treating a pandemic

It ain’t great. They told me none of the cases they’ve seen have been severe, but they are worried. Even if it’s no worse that Flu A & B, another strain of flu will put a lot of stress on our healthcare system.

If human-2-human spread increases, there will be more likelihood of these human mutations taking iff & we’ll be doomed, truly.
