As soon as it was announced I excitedly told my partner that it seems like this was written specifically for me to enjoy, and it becomes even more true each episode
A nomination I hadn't thought of. But Tim W is actually competent in some ways. Self-righteous + competence is what makes me think of Robespierre. But I might be overlooking someone, but the Big Dum-Dum Theory of Revolution narrows the candidate pool.
As someone who exists in corporate America, this hit a little too close to home. Especially real issues being met with "change is hard, you'll adapt". AAAGH.
The silver from space Potosí. The only way I see massive fast settlement in space is cheap transport + insanely lucrative minerals. We lack the traditional products, those being Martians to rob, torture, rape, enslave, and murder --- or space sugar, tobacco, cotton, opium, ...
By "drive everyone mad", I assume they were firmware updates to brain chips, leading to "aaahhh my brain is on fire", the Festival of Landru, et cetera. Not so good in an unbreathable environment.
It's Robespierre el Científico ramming the Bourbon Reforms down everyone's throats in days, then?
Common Mike! I want to read now the "rise and fall of the chamberlains."
You just dangle books like crazy, and I want to read them!
Don't stop tho. Maybe one day you will write them. Right?
I retired from a large software vendor a few years back. You don't know just how accurate your description of the implementation of the New Protocols is. This is not fiction.
Oh look...a global Microsoft Office outage. These are the kinds of coincidences that if you scripted them, people would say are too neat to be believable.
In ep. 3 of the Duncan and Coe History Show, Duncan mentioned that he's been planning this for 8-10 years, & TW is a major plot driver. I'm guessing the major properties of the character have been set for years.
Just started the series. I wonder what tools you used for the world building. I can't seem to get my dnd world consistent (keep having to scroll through a huge document so I remember what I wrote)
Mike, I am curious, how far in advance do you write the actual lines of an episode? I am sure you have a general outline well in advance, but I can't decide if the text is influenced by current events, or we always have the same problems, hence there were similar current events when you wrote it?
Question - you said "next week" at the end. Does that mean you'll be back next week with a new episode? I assumed you'd be taking Thanksgiving off, which would be perfectly justified of course. Loving the series btw.
