I want to tell you a story. In 2015, I was in the small Lithuanian city of Panevežys, standing with the locals, watching a military parade. But this was no ordinary parade, because marching alongside the Lithuanian troops were our American allies.🧵1/17

bjgp.org/content/75/7... Excited to have an article published in #BJGP - a how to guide on reducing the carbon footprint of your #GP practice💊💉🏥🌎🌳 #FamilyMedicine

Good a coalition is forming-but speed not inclusion is key now. Small groups must move now to ✅1.Seize Russian assets ✅2.Send 🇺🇦 LR strike, AD & ✅3.Troops in non-combat roles ✅4.Rapid invest in def-ind ✅5.Mutual def pacts incl w.🇺🇦 after UA agreed peace #Justdoit www.politico.eu/article/west...

🧵/ I agonised over whether to write this Sunday Times piece. Whipped-up emotion, hate & vitriol now dominate discussions of assisted dying on here - appallingly. We have to be able to converse in good faith - & concerns should not be dismissed as "noise". (1/n) www.thetimes.com/article/5188...

Wow this is scary. AI minus the intelligence. Just plausible sounding rubbish. If used in the realworld this could cause chaos.

Cars are getting 1cm wider every two years. That may not sound much, but over time it adds up, and they're showing no signs of slowing down 😬 That's #carspreading. Our new campaign is calling on city leaders to make parking policies fairer by varying costs based on the size of a car. Why? 🧵1/8

Car bores on here often wang on as if I have somehow unfairly impugned the humble SUV driver, & what business is it of mine what car they drive anyway etc. Our new report, Tractor Attack, may help to explain why I talk about this so much, and also: What Is To Be Done About It 1/

A new, ideologically driven American oligarchy is on the march, and in DC, not on Wall St or Silicon Valley. What does it mean for democracy, and the 2026 midterms in particular? Fighting back takes strategy, not hysteria. My new article: t.co/FZpP5FtZjB

If there was ever a clearer argument for cars never to be allowed within 500m of schools, 20mph zones, and restrictions on massive SUVs. Every UK school should have a School Street.

This table shows why health is deteriorating in England. Decimation of numbers of GPs and public health doctors over specialist doctors. You can't see a GP as there are less of them with a growing population!

📈Lots of charts doing rounds re market jitters in the UK. Here's one I find quite helpful 👇 It's the cost of insuring UK debt against default. Two things to note: 1. People ARE more concerned. The CDS spread HAS jumped up recently. 2. It's nothing like what happened in 2022.

Even the spider webs have icicles dangling in #peakdistrict A day of DIY at son’s new home & then that keynote presentation for the launch of the #NIHR Deep End Leeds GP research network on Monday ! Really looking forward to meeting the new #researchequity #healthequity activists #primarycare

I know this might seem peripheral to health and social justice - but it’s not. Grouse moors are about wealth and inequality and privilege. They are owned by the super-rich and they damage the environment and, of course, the birds matter - but people and their health are impacted too. #righttoroam

We need more investment in general practice, with a focus on relational continuity of care www.heraldscotland.com/news/health/...

Fixing housing is at the heart of fixing multiple social and health problems. Lots to be done but could make a big impact! www.theguardian.com/society/2024...

This work featured in The Lancet and led by Josie Reynolds GP Research fellow with and by communities , reframes our world view of #Dementia and #ageing- so proud to be in this team #PrimaryCare

Fantastic report. This needs addressing ASAP! @rthonwesstreeting.bsky.social #Deep-end

Latest update to our @healthfoundation.bsky.social 'health of general practice data dashboard' out now! Some really interesting insights this quarter. Short thread below, but check out the full story here - www.health.org.uk/general-prac...

General practice in England is facing significant pressure. Despite record numbers of appointments, more GPs are still needed, especially in deprived areas, where need is greatest. Explore our updated dashboard now ⬇️ https://buff.ly/41f5Qnu

Interesting survey. More deprived communities less willing to allow their data being used for AI development and more sceptical about health care technology. I would say this is quite rationale given their experience of wider society and how (little) they are valued by 'the authorities'.

This is my cousin David podcast he is a war reporter. It's fantastic. A must listen ... Yes it's the Mail.... www.bestpodcasts.co.uk/podcast/90-s...

Really appreciated the letter from @rthonwesstreeting.bsky.social addressed to GPs today. So nice to have a change of emphasis toward General Practice coming from the new government!

Fantastic story of integration. Would be great to hear more positive stories like this! #Roma

Using a car costs way more - in both private and public costs - than public transport and other modes. When our government decides to invest in motorways over public transport and to prioritise sprawling car dependent suburbs, they are actively choosing to force up the cost of transport.
