Good morning to everyone except United Healthcare who is denying me coverage for breast cancer genetic testing *that my obgyn ordered* because multiple family members had or have breast cancer. This includes, btw, my aunt who just passed away from said cancer.

We need to become very informed about how things are coded, what the appeals process is like, what the deadline to respond is, etc.

FYI to those reading if you don't qualify for testing b/c of strong fam history, Color and Invitae are 2 options that include dozens of different identified cancer risk genes, including brca, for around $300 cash. Insurance tests usually cost thousands and only read out one gene / test
But it super sucks now.
And hospitals are closing.
They are fairly successful with appeals of denials.
