Over the course of her long career (The Conversation, Young Frankenstein, Tootsie), the American actress has had some... close encounters with the sci-fi: Star Trek (Assignment: Earth, 1968), Close Encounters of the Third Kind (1977), Mom and Dad Save the World (1992)...

She was 79.

It got a literary spin-off in some Star Trek tie-in novels by Greg Cox. One was titled ASSIGNMENT: ETERNITY. Gary Seven and Roberta Lincoln also are part of Cox’s prequel novels about Khan Noonien Singh, THE RISE AND FALL OF KHAN NOONIEN SINGH, Vol. 1 and Vol. 2.
