I found Spurs by asking my Spurs loving friend what EPL team I should follow. It was a bonus they had Sonny - we have family in Korea too.

what the hell, Flannery's doesnt open for every kick-off?! Our little Spurs bar in Oak Cliff neighborhood of Dallas will open for big games at 6 am for us if we bring enough people/run a tab to make it worthwhile.

DC Spurs is a big crowd.

Charlotte Spurs is excellent. We stopped on a road trip for the Chelsea away, Conte v Tuchel match.

Seattle Spurs is awesome. Midweek is tough there.

Milwaukee Spurs, solid.

Richmond Spurs watched post-Jose cup final.

Pre-season, Miami Spurs.

It’s nice when we host people in the area for business or to visit family! I love hearing the stories of other OSCs and how they manage matchdays.

Our host bar’s beers are pretty good. The coffee shop on site isn’t bad either!

Saw Spurs-LFC on tv in the UCL final the same day we went to a McCartney concert. Later that year I bought an old copy of FIFA for my kids. They didn’t play it so I did; decided to use Spurs since LFC were the “big dogs”, and Eriksen was a wizard on that version of the game. Been a fan ever since.

History, Style of play, effective marketing and an underdog story with a fanbase this is seen a football savvy (debatable in my experience) but with the least amount of delusion plus self deprecation humor.

There is also a greater understanding of how difficult it is to “win it all”.

It was mentioned in the article but my experience is many ( not most in any case) Spurs fans are immigrants and British expats.
I was already a Spurs fan when I came to US and was happy to find Atlanta Spurs. Moved to Michigan later and now I have Detroit Spurs and An Arbor Spurs in driving distance

We spent extended time in the UK over 20 years, & our boys became fans of rival PL teams. I yearly alternated rooting for their teams. After a few years, a friend of mine in Dorset said he found the Spurs the "most interesting." I started watching them & became a big fan (in the early Bale years).

I think you'll find just as many Arsenal fans in NY and the US. There's a bunch of places to watch the Gooners there, as I have found and they are rammed. EPL is generally well supported.

Jack says that there are more US supporters clubs for Spurs than for any other PL team. I wonder if that also goes for podcasts from all national origins? I count around 40 English language podcasts, not including some YouTube only offerings. I don’t see other teams doing those numbers.

I live in Cleveland & watched the Browns religiously my entire life… until 2015-ish I tapped out. I asked @ckop84.bsky.social to refer me over to an EPL team and he blessed me with Spurs. Haven’t looked back. Still infinitely better than the Browns.

Great read, Jack! I always tell my friends when I drag them into Spurs fandom that there’s only one guarantee in supporting this club: they will feel feelings. That shared sense of feeling - even if we’re all feeling different things - helps build true community, even so far from WHL

Going to watch a game with the @phlhotspur.bsky.social last year was a genuine highlight. It was first thing on Saturday morning, the bar was buzzing, beer flowing and someone had even made cookies. Outstanding effort and a lovely bunch.
