I tripped and really jolted myself two days ago, falling really awkwardly and twisting.
Was sore.
The pain in and around my shoulder blade is really bad.
The pain's increasing rather than dulling.
I can't cough. That brings white hot razor-sharp pain.
That's even after 30/500 co-codamol and weed.

Something has to be hanging off first, so I'm not a great judge of what self-advocacy route I should be taking.
🤣
Thank you.
See, this is why I posted.
You're all so kind
Someone helpfully reminded me I can self refer to my local NHS physio department.
I'll be getting onto that first thing tomorrow.
I can at least use my left arm and hand with care.
But everything hinges around a rotator cuff.
Maybe time you called your GP too?
I had a GP phone appointment this morning.
They referred me to Minor Injuries at the local A&E.
They set up an online face to face consultation at 1.30.
Logged in. Got reassured break or muscle sprain, treatment is painkillers, deep breaths now and again and time.
Day 7 the worst.
I'm so impresed with the Scottish NHS from start to finish today.
I'm so impressed, J.
(I've always got enough cash planked for just this reason.)
Splendid NHS.
Jackie B is a big liar.
I can thole the pain now I'm reassured why it was exacerbating and have expectations that generally days 7 to 10 are peak pain.
Then the healing begins.
It's not long-term.
I turned down Tramadol. That stuff is just too strong.
It makes your hair fall out.
And I like it far too much.
Call 111
Of course.
And yes, they do.
I'll get onto that tomorrow.
Thank you very much 😀💕
I've long answered to any name at all 🤣
🤣🤣
Get well soon.
I can do that.
I'm a very impatient patient.
I can thole three days tops.
After that, I expect my body to have got its act together.
Then I remember I'm far from the 25 I am in my head 🤣
I'll see to see what tomorrow morning brings and call my GP surgery to see if they can squeeze me in.
I think painkillers are relaxing the muscles tensing around where the pain is actually coming from rather than denting the actual problem.
That makes me feel less like I'd be wasting my GPs time.
Thanks, Maureen.
I've the dentist at 10:00 to deal with the dark chocolate covered caramel that took out my core and post crown.
I do still have the crown. I didn't swallow it, so that's good.
What a week 🤣
My thought process was: "If it's a rib break or sprain, there's not much they can do anyway."
Another reply reminded me better pain relief would definitely help.
It's not helping the pain, but I'm fair enjoying the wee heat 😀
It feels not dissimilar.
I suppose I need to remember my osteoporosis diagnosis here, too.
My mind thinks I'm 25 🤣
Brilliant system.
Had a video consultation with the local Minor Injuries Unit scheduled.
It's a break in a rib, an intercostal/pectoral muscle tear or pull.
As the advice for all is the same, I'll just continue with the painkillers.
With the knowledge day 7 should be the worst pain.
Prepare well for day 7-10!
Noted.
I can thole it when I know it's basically needing time to heal, and I've got a time frame within which to expect that.
I fretted at the pain increasing daily rather than reducing.
Now I know that's normal, I'll just get on with not jostling it too much.
Your chiropractor tho. 👀
She knew well the condition of my ribs, bike accident at high speed, yet over pressured re-ripping the intercostal, which could be clearly heard. Brutal Brunhilde she's been known by since.
Some of the videos you see are brutal.
One I stumbled upon managed to paralyse the patient.
I don't doubt it's beneficial when handled by expect practitioners.
But how do you weed out the excellent from the potentially harmful?
All I can recommend is a good sports chiro but they're thin on the ground nowadays and tend to cost ££££'s
GP says go to A&E Minor Injuries Unit.
Will do.
Breakfast first.
Do I go see my GP next week?
I can move my hand and arm and rotate my shoulder normally, and it doesn't exacerbate the constant dull pain.
But anything over a shallow breath is debilitatingly sore and paradoxically breath-taking at the same time.
Frucking OUCH.
Thank you.
I think i was hoping someone would say "Oh, you've pulled X muscle. Just rest." 🤣🤣🤣
I had a shoulder replacement in August
My problems stemmed from a fall I ignored
Five years pain due to covid delays etc
Hopefully yours will be fine
Take care and good
luck
In the meantime- look after yourself
Which another person reminded me I can easily do.
Good luck with your own hand and arm. It's when you lose use, you realise how much you'd miss them.
Our NHS is fantastic.
"If you have a minor injury, such as a cut that need stitches, a broken bone, a sprains or minor burn, please call NHS 24 on 111 and ask for our Minor Injuries Unit (MIU) service. "
I hope you kept the receipt for your legs you definitely need to get a new pair lol
What's going on sounds like you reactivated your last injury when you fell
... no wonder you're in so much pain
Feel better my love
I'd just been showing off how much movement my at-home physio had given back 🤣
I hope you're okay
To press down on my torso top left, level with the base of my armpit, is spiky-sharp sore.
I think I'm going to wait and call my GP.
A&E is for accidents & emergencies.
I've coped to now, one more day is manageable, and it's no emergency.
No need to pressurise NHS.
Don't want to add bloody pleurisy or silent pneumonia to the mix.
Medication is deffo key.
Thanks, Axel.
