Striking thing about the Twitter Files was they set out to prove a conspiracy theory they made up to feel like repressed victims, didn’t find it, showed evidence that if anything proved the opposite, but said it was proof anyway, and despite that debunking evidence, people who wanted to believe did.

Just want to thank @mmasnick.bsky.social for the tireless work he did covering the bullshit in the Twitter Files when that was going on. Just unbelievable how people took it seriously at the time *and continue to take it seriously today* considering everything www.liberalcurrents.com/brains-poiso...

He will contrl the narrative u ask details sorry it’s classified
The reality is humans are emotionally driven to believe things and Americans in particular have a catastrophic lack of media literacy skills.
That was it’s not true, but it feels true, so you believe it.
This was it’s not true, you see documented evidence that it’s not true, but you wish it were true, so you say the debunking somehow proved it.
It’s a blatant, piss-on-my-leg-and-tell-me-it’s-raining lie.
Twitter files people have reacted to current censorship crisis as mainstream Qanon react to FBI purges: with elation.
Don't believe me: skim regularly "thefreepress" headlines.
Barr: "See look, nothing bad happened. Case closed."
Everyone reading the details: "Some bad shit happened. 😳"
The equivalent would be if Barr, instead of preempting the Mueller report, had shown an unredacted part of the report with evidence of direct Trump campaign - Russian government coordination and said “see, no communication ever took place between them.”
