Tech leaders’ reward for building things a lot of people use is tons of money, plus considerable public influence. Their belief that they’re also entitled to near-universal praise is pathetic, and should be ignorable, except they really do think it justifies—even obligates—them destroying democracy.

Sam says it aloud. the way many of them see the techlash is that, one day they were Great Men of History and the next, with zero warning, they were inexplicably villains. everything that comes after stems from an inability to examine this

Maybe he would have had better results spending that decade trying to suck his own dick.
Meanwhile - not a single persons life would be substantively different if Sam Altman didn't exist at all. He brings nothing to the table that can't be had better for less money.
