This all ties back to the fairly obvious truth that people are fans of a *team*, not the league as a whole. MLS seems to not quite grasp this and it leads to nonsense like MLS forcing fans to listen to Max Bretos and Brian Dunseth yap about the USMNT and growing the game

When you map out how people become MLS fans, no matter the demographic, it all starts at coming to your first match.

This is somewhat unique in American sports, where you can become an NBA fan through content first, for example.

But in MLS, the most casual way to interact is actually going.
