I made it. It wasn't easy to find data, so I calculated using GDP data and R&D as % of GDP from various years. These numbers are for 2023 but in 2015 dollars.

Cool, thanks for sharing! I’ve found the figures for R&D as %GDP useful for benchmarking internal (national) investment, but these total amounts seem to paint a clearer picture of potential global impact of national research (so say why tanking US science matters outside the US…)

I believe you will see graduate and PhD students from the U.S. leave the country and go overseas. I am sure many countries will see these opportunities and increase their funding for research and science. They will gain from this. The United States will lose.
