As the grandson of OG genocidal Nazis, I got to tell you that dumping on people for refusing to endorse literal genocide is not the moral flex you seem to think it is.
There is a lot of blame to go around. Blaming the voters imo isn't useful. Have to win voters as they are. Biden f'd everything up by staying in, not allowing a primary. And his Gaza policy alienated people who might have voted D. And Kamala was not a great candidate.
That's the customer service model of democracy. It's the wrong model for our time, absolves them of blame, and encourages apathy and ignorance. Ultimately, everything is up to the voters. We blew it. (Assuming no hacking.)
It's rank fantasy to think a candidate can just choose to appeal to enough groups to win an election with policy. The vast majority of voters were completely confused about the policy diffs.
The candidate isn't owed votes, but democracy is. If voters are too stupid to understand that, it's over.
Too many voters are too stupid and/or lazy to make the right choice. It's a fact. Everyone has google in their pocket. Some use it for good info and some use it as a hallucinogen or not at all. If you choose not to vote for democracy and human rights out of willful ignorance, it's still your fault.
Those voters quite literally condemned tens of millions to poverty and death so they could look edgy on Instagram. Spare me the wailing and gnashing of teeth at the very predictable outcome of their extremely privileged fit of pique. It was Kamala, with all her flaws, or this. They chose this.
And it's wonderful, isn't it? The unprecedented corruption in the oval office. The dismantling of the institutions that sustain the rule of the law and America's soft power throughout the world (USAID). How many will die because of that?
As a Canadian, my message to them is "Fuck you very much."
I have contacts in the White House, in policy roles. If you think this is bad, you cannot imagine what they’ve got planned. Given the opportunity, they will literally strip millions of citizenship and are willing, to the point of being eager, to kill millions they see as subhuman. It’s very dark.
As a student of both history and law, I could not agree more. As someone who has listened flabbergasted around a kitchen table as these people discuss their intentions, only to see them join this admin in policy roles, I cannot possibly emphasize enough the acute danger we are all in at the moment.
Now we must get out of this with the least suffering possible. There’s no point in looking back at what might have been now, the urgency is surviving what lies ahead. The cost would have been much lower had we gone a different route but that’s no longer possible. What lies ahead is very dark.
The people I know who didn’t bother to vote are (literally) in tears almost daily because they “didn’t think it would be this bad”. I don’t know how you reach someone with a six figure job and a terminal degree who reads the other sides plan and decides they’re the same thing.
Even if he were, Moscow would cook up a narrative that puts him on the wrong side of a suddenly important issue with these same voters and they'd stay pure and home anyway. Russia's good at that.
Nah man Biden Harris literally condemned hundreds of thousands of people by sending weapons and aid to a state that was murdering them and people reasonably said "fuck that". They could have chosen not to do that. Blaming IG randoms is pathetic.
‘There’s a lot of blame to go around. You can’t expect people to not intentionally light themselves on fire if someone isn’t gonna ask them not to nicely.’
No message was gonna reach the people who couldn’t be bothered to vote to stop this from happening.
And good for you as well. Hopefully the Dems will do enough to convince people who just don’t care about anyone else to vote against an insane fascist next time.
Russia enacted a massive disinformation campaign against Kamala Harris. The genocide in Palestine was exploited by a foreign adversary (Russia) to get a fascist in power. Y’all are gonna have to reckon with that someday. The genocide moved into the West Bank. Where’s the outrage? Protests? Nothing?
You know I have great respect for you, and I admire your passion. I don't dispute your views on Biden/Harris and the DNC. While I wasn't excited to vote for the Democratic candidate, I was definitely motivated to vote against the dismantling of NOAA and the rest of the government.
Fascists gonna fash. Dem leadership rolling out the red carpet for them, including by actively facilitating a genocide, was a choice. Privileged centrists finger wagging after the fact only lets the Dem leadership off the hook they should be on.
I have family who work for the Dept of Education. An old friend at NIH.
It was obvious Harris would lose months in advance. The campaign’s internal polling showed it.
Our anger should be directed at the Dems
Honestly, probably not. Everything from vaccine hesitation to illegals voting. Seems like some people just choose to believe because it fits the narrative they’ve already built in their heads.
Get upset with your 72m fellow citizens who knowingly voted for criminal scum
Biden+Garland dithered prosecuting J6ers, and didn't go after Trump
Harris failed to set the economic case
Biden was servile to Netanyahu
Schumer is a knob
But 72m had NO ISSUE with the bare faced liars, Trump and Vance
The anti-Harris people were the leftists that were unable or unwilling to consider anything other than the conflict in Gaza and the US's support of Israel.
I mean, there are lots of people out of work, we lost the court forever and we're a c hair from public executions, but did you see the look on their faces?
It's one thing to be dumb enough to do it, but to be proud of it? Toddlers.
Dude. Come on. Both parties are complicit in genocide. And now that they lost the Dems are pivoting to bipartisanship with Nazis, and Kamala's focus was reaching out to people who want to deny climate science. Seriously? It would have been the same but lady and rainbow washed.

Can't lose to these guys.
We need candidates who appeal to them.
Your approach encourages an arrogance, “they owe it to me.”
That’s not a winning path. Not enough vote strictly to block the Repub. This has been shown over & over.
The candidate isn't owed votes, but democracy is. If voters are too stupid to understand that, it's over.
A big problem for us is the media/information environment is terrible. But still we must win in it, or face this. There is no alternative.
Implying voters are too stupid to ever make the right choice is both incorrect & loser talk imo.
As a Canadian, my message to them is "Fuck you very much."
We must recognize the mistakes of the past in order to not make them again.
I don't know.
It's good to talk to voters. They are very random. Many not well-informed. They make bad decisions on weird evidence.
Regardless, the candidate has to win them. They will stay home if the candidate alienates them.
The game is to win them.
No bro, both parties are literally the same.
Ok cool, see you in the camps I guess.
*The parties are only the same if you’ve got only first world problems.*
However, the candidate of my party failed to win.
If you are really interested in winning, focus on how to get more voters.
Ranting non-responsively at people doesn't help us. It might feel good, but it doesn't help.
Must win the voters as they actually exist.
We need to "wake them the fuck up."
Based on polls, Bernie may well have won them in 2016.
Saying "it's hopeless" imo is making excuses for suboptimal candidates & campaigns.
We can do better, and we must.
Bernie received 30% of the primary vote.
Ergo, Bernie was not the candidate.
Even if he were, Moscow would cook up a narrative that puts him on the wrong side of a suddenly important issue with these same voters and they'd stay pure and home anyway. Russia's good at that.
No message was gonna reach the people who couldn’t be bothered to vote to stop this from happening.
Biden in 2020 got a lot more votes that Kamala this time.
Kamala campaigned w Mark Cuban & Liz Cheney. Tim Walz, who spoke to different voters, was sidelined.
I continue to believe there is a way to reach more voters.
Dems just gotta do it.
Bunch of us knew what trump 2.0 was gonna be like.
The rest either weren’t clever enough to figure out something so obvious or just didn’t care enough to help stop it.
I’m a vote against the one person who mathematically has a chance of beating the insane fascist who hates America no matter who.
You wouldn’t understand. You apparently can’t see what’s going on. 🤷🏻♂️
Thus, if we want to win, we need candidates to do more.
If there is a next time.
That's ridiculous.
Many are decided before the campaign even starts.
Many others will never vote no matter what.
It is the remainder the candidates must fight for.
That it was even a contest was a massive systematic failure from top to bottom.
A Japanese soldier holding out on Guam would have known what was at stake.
But how did the “shut up and vote for more genocide, fracking & no health care” strategy work out?
I guess the NPC meme isn't just for right wingers, because apparently you think everyone else is just fine with the way things were.
It’s tragic.
It was obvious Harris would lose months in advance. The campaign’s internal polling showed it.
Our anger should be directed at the Dems

He ran on lowering prices, he caused them to skyrocket.
White woman and veterans didn’t realize they were dei hires, they thought it’d just be minorities.
Now he wants to cut SSA, HUD, the VA, NOAA.
Tariffs, invading allies, doge…
It’s the people in the streets that we are waiting to come out of the cult.
There was a huge artist population here and a huge trans community here.
Who were the anti-Harris people?
Their voices seem to be tamed these days.
Single-issue non-voters, these were.
I mean, there are lots of people out of work, we lost the court forever and we're a c hair from public executions, but did you see the look on their faces?
It's one thing to be dumb enough to do it, but to be proud of it? Toddlers.
