I would love to read that article, because desperation mode has hit pretty hard and I see a lot of bsky posts say "yell about your book more!" but I don't see "except for situations A-X" and my autistic brain could use the calibration help. I don't think I've done it myself but idk?
There is an unfortunately large number of books I would have otherwise been interested in if the author hadn't done something like reply to someone celebrating their book launch with "my book is about the same thing! Here's a link! Buy it!"
Like I thought a lot of this etiquette would be common sense but it doesn't seem so, ergo I'm tempted to write up these etiquette norms. But yeah if someone posts "my book releases today! It's about XYZ! Here's where you can get it!" the proper etiquette is to reply w "amazing! Congrats! Well done!"
It seems like some people get so promotion-brained they forget basic human interactions and unfortunately the people who most need this advice are likely to be the people least likely to pay attention to it.
Nevertheless a post that one can link them to when they do it would be a good resource.
