A fun read is the first part of "De medicina" by Aulus Cornelius Celsus (1st century). That's a history of medicine from 2,000 years ago.

Roy Porter can be wonderful for a general introduction, but there’ll be a ton of other more specific works that other people will be better placed to recommend.

Elinor Cleghorn’s book Unwell Women is a more specific view than I can strongly recommend — a journey through the history of medicine as it applies to women.
