I’m guessing it’s structural. Asylum claims can’t be moved from country to country IIRC, so if you’re processed by Britain you’re seeking asylum in Britain, which means higher numbers. Basically using the Channel as a moat to push refugees to other European countries.

It would help if we had broader recognition of eg accountancy standards. I know someone with high level qualifications in her home country who is counted as an unskilled worker. It’s absurd; she’s basically a top civil servant who had to flee a death squad, but we’re calling her a burden.

Labour have got to start making ordinary people's lives better and improve their comms. Start addressing inequality. It's not a few thousand migrants making lives worse -it's a few billionaires. Prove whose side you are really on. That's the change I voted for.
