A lot of our environmental protections are based on court cases and the EPA, the chevron doctrine getting gutted makes a lot of the EPA stuff useless now though

Old laws are still good if the frameworks they establish are good. Regulations are where things are updated often. As a random example, water quality standards under the Clean Water Act - the law is 52 years old but the regs were last updated this June by the Tribal Reserved Rights rule.

idk how it is with other laws, but with the clean water act they make amendments to it to keep it up to date instead of scrapping it and writing something brand new
