After picking your form, players allocate points to different areas of their body and set off in first-person to explore a grid-based dungeon. Combat is...pretty bizarre? Encountering another monster will pit both of you against each other in targeting glowing spots and then watching the results.

In battle, you need to target what appears to be a power point (weak point?) by lining up and locking target lines before the enemy does. If you do it right, you strike first and hopefully get to do some serious damage. Each round plays out the same way until only one is left standing.

Winning a fight not only means you get to survive, but you also rip something out from the enemy to improve your own stats with the points earned, apparently strengthening the hot spots of your new body aiding your ability to target them.

N.O.B.'s quirky combat and amazing stop-motion monsters make it one of the 3DO's more unique, and relatively obscure, Japan-only RPGs. And for Ray Harryhausen fans, another treat answering the question for what he might've done with a menagerie of mutants in a video game.
