Only the best of the best get replayed, but usually only after at least a year has passed. GTA4/5, RDR1/2, Mass Effect 1-3 - they all got played to credit roll multiple times.
The ones with the richest immersion get replayed. If I feel like I’m in another world, it calcifies emotions in that moment. The reason I game is because of how it melts me into interactive entertainment
I move on more often than not. I often replay the games I grew up with the most, especially Pokémon games which I usually replay on emulator so I can keep my save data intact.
Yes, Resident Evil 4. I hooked up my new surround sound system, forgot it was on, and was absolutely terrified by the ambient sounds! I had to turn that thing off for a little while!!🤣
Yes. Back when I was younger, I player through Yo-Kai Watch 1 and was so scared of the first Oni encounter that I didn’t get past that point in the game until 4-5 years later, at LEAST.
I don't play horror games very often to begin with. I don't finish all of them, but I wouldn't say it's because I'm scared of them, just that I'm not motivated to continue. I don't recall that ever being the specific reason I stopped.
I was at the end of the game on my very first run-through of the game. This person who joined me halfway through was really helpful, always waited for me and showed me how to progress. At the time, I was sick for the 2nd month in a row and hadn't been able to go outside, really.(Continued in thread)
Lost Odyssey sticks in my mind, there's some text based "memories" that were quite sad by themselves but then the music that goes with it really gets you
A few games have succeeded in doing that. The first game to make me cry was The Walking Dead: The Telltale Series (Season 1). The ending of that game absolutely gutted me.
I think it happened before this but I distinctly remember finishing Metal Gear Solid on PS1 and being maybe 10-11 years old and it giving me the chills and making me cry.
Tbf though that game blew my mind with the cinematic parts at the time.

Undertale, Journey, Paper Mario TTYD, Super Paper Mario, The Last Guardian, and a lot more.
To better explain Journey, I'll put the story in the comments bc of character lock.
