I've been hanging out with a lot of 5th graders recently, and I was surprised how many of them are aware of the climate crisis, attacks on LGBTQ+ rights, inequality in general... They feel that injustice and they're interested in improving the world. That really gives me hope.

(and to be clear - my kids a big umbrella. Sure, my birth kids, they're great. But the kids I mentor and support, the kids I get to hug at temple, the kids I teach. the ones I know and don't know. ALL THE KIDS.)

Yes. ALL THE KIDS. I'm not a parent, but I have a nephew, cousins' kids, friends' kids, a chosen-family kid. I also have the kids I work with in my volunteer spaces, every one of whom is amazing & eager to carry the future of our efforts, & the kids of the community where I live. They're my fuel.
