Me! I grew up in Summerside and have read and reread all of LM Montgomery’s books many times. Anne was an important role model growing up. I’ve seen the musical dozens of times. :-)

I'd never read the books, or really followed the story but had been to PEI many times. So, I decided to read the "Anne Of Green Gables" #Audiobook this year

I’m all for putting a more modern spin on the stories but the magic of Anne is her sense of wonder and belief in the basic goodness of other people - despite experiencing so much hardship. It’s very Ted Lasso-esque. I didn’t sense that in the new series.

I have not. I never read books, I'm too ADHD. I've always listened to books on Tape, decades ago, but now Audiobooks are the thing. To make up for lost time, I went back to read all the school books I didn't, 100 books last year, Catcher in the Rye, Mice and Men, Great Gatsby, etc.. only 70 in 2024

Good for you!! I haven’t gotten into audiobooks yet but am hoping to in the coming year. I figure I’ll get more reading done if I listen to books while doing other things. I only read a couple of dozen books this year - a new low for me. I’ve been too distracted by all the bad news to read novels.

I can't sit still. I come from the generation that didn't know what ADHD was. They used a strap in school to seat me at my desk. (and worse). Except for typing on the PC, when I have to turn the book off, I get an hour preparing cat food and coffee in the morning and anytime I go anywhere...

I spent several years as a kid in Summerside...I think I inhaled every book LM Montgomery wrote while I was there. I just love her story telling abilities.

Agreed. I reread “The Blue Castle” a few years back & was reminded of how far ahead of her time LMM was. I lived on the island from 1965 to 1979. A fantastic place to grow up! I still miss it. Had great fun touring there with a Finnish friend a dozen years ago. Turns out the Finns love Anne too. :-)

We lived in Summerside from 65-69! And the Japanese are also obsessed with Anne. We went back last yr to PEI...so beautiful there. We stay in the Summerside area vs the crowd of Cavendish. We even went to Skinner's Pond to the Stompin Tom Centre, lol

I remember visiting when I was a young girl! I got in trouble for sitting on one of the couches behind a velvet rope.. oops! Loved my time living in PEI. I hope I can visit again someday.
