The first time I ever saw an August Wilson play was on a high school trip to the Alabama Shakespeare Festival. Joe Turner’s Come and Gone. And yeah it was by far the best thing we saw. I still remember it vividly.

I’m reading the newest Jodi Picoult and I haven’t done any research into this but the premise is that Shakespeare didn’t write his plays but put his names on plays (of people who couldn’t/wouldn’t get published themselves) and the play scene knew but it got buried in history

I’ve been wondering why so much of my education consisted of studying his work. It was so limiting/ed. I’ve read so much better, more thought provoking writing in my life. My 15 year old is learning it in high school and I am really hoping that their teacher includes other authors and perspectives.
