In 1936 the Presidential election featured a fight about minimum wages and maximum hours.
The Supreme Court had been fighting against wage-hour and child-labour laws since 1918.
FDR won that election in a landslide (532 to 8 electoral college votes) and packed the Supreme Court.

In 1936 Perkins and Roosevelt got passage of the Public Contracts Act. It required most government contractors to adopt an 8-hour day and a 40-hour week, to employ only those over 16 years of age if they were boys or 18 years of age if they were girls, and to pay a "prevailing minimum wage"

The 1936 bill was not unconstitutional because it covered the terms of contracts that the government paid for. After the Supreme Court was packed, Perkins worked with Roosevelt to adopt a more generalized bill, setting maximum working hours for everyone and creating minimum-wage boards.

Tax cuts just feel so lazy to me. And we can't keep cutting taxes with every new government forever... governments need revenue.
