Terrific looking movie. The only thing that seems of its time to me is the idea that a whole crew of perfect human specimens is almost entirely made up of white dudes who look like Don Draper.

I use to make a little paper craft drive in at my desk when I worked in an office and the 2" tall screens for FP always got the most attention by the people who noticed that the scenes would change every week.

The interiors of the Krell machinery, the models and mattes, are still really impressive. The movie is sort of sadly abandoned as a museum relic, but it's essential viewing.

Back in the oughts I went to the science fiction museum in Seattle and they had Ann Francis’s dress from Forbidden Planet on display and my god that might be the tiniest piece of clothing I have ever seen.

Especially the waist, but they also had Farah Fawcett's dress from Logan's Run, which seemed very tiny too. Ms. Francis still was very trim and small when I saw her at a con, about 2011, where she introduced a showing of Forbidden Planet.
