After half a dozen people sent me a link to this op-ed from fmr Anheuser-Busch employee/current anti-woke finance guy Anson Frericks about how DEI killed Bud Light, I finally read it. It stinks, and NYT Opinion editors let Frericks get away with a bunch of hokum for his personal and political gain.
Frericks has been flogging the “ABI went woke, now it’s going broke” angle virtually since the Bud Light backlash bubbled over from conservative corners of the internet and into mainstream discourse last spring. He did at least four hits on Fox News about it lol
Anson Frericks' piece is intellectually dishonest, all over the place, and poorly written, to boot. Our Opinion overlords at the NYT didn't think its readers deserved the benefit of reality-based context on the Bud Light fiasco. I do.
