And, I'm pretty sure, has no regulations on WHEN in someone's transition they can switch to the gender division of their choice, thereby making it more accessible to athletes who may not have access to HRT

The folks most mad are folks that don’t have an athletic bone in their body. They cling to an “ideal” about what youth (mostly girl) sports are like.

Let them help a little league team for a summer. Those opinions will change QUICK.

I’d be genuinely curious to know your opinion on trans people in sports, though. Probably specifically trans women since it doesn’t seem to be as much of a hot issue re: trans men in sports.

Well I assume (know most likely) you’re in support - but I guess I’m just curious if it’s a blanket “yes” that anyone who identifies as a woman should be able to compete in women’s sports, or if you think there should be some sort of caveats re: it?

As a new tennis player I have to say one of my foremost observations about it is that tennis people are weird and gatekeepy as if they don’t want anyone new to ever get involved with the sport because they think they’ll ruin like, the sanctity of the game or something? It’s really strange.

I reminded my formerly anti trans sister of Dr Rene Richards and how Billy Jean King and all but one very stuck up Brit had no problem with her back in the 1970’s

So much of this debate is Don't Know Ball. The fundamental assumption they're always making is that all sports performance is born talent, but until you get to the Olympic/D-1 level where everyone's a practice freak it's mostly about skill development.

anyway when i was an 11 year old "boy" i took tennis lessons for a couple summers and qualified for a wider county tourney. i was *feeling myself*. i though i'd win a few matches!

the 5 foot zero girl i was matched against in round 1 of the tournament beat me in straight sets. total bloodbath

As somebody who has coached tennis to all ages, you don't see much difference between boys and girls until high school. Even then it really only appears at elite levels. There's a reason every class I ever taught was coed.
Tennis players are also the biggest complainers. Bunch of spoiled brats
