Definitely feels like "RPG" should be replaced with "D&D/Pathfinder". I've played a whole bunch of #TTRPG options over the years but this phenomenon is pretty uniquely linked to games very specifically using a level up system, which is the extreme minority. Otherwise, spot on. lol.
Yeah, that sounds about right. In session 1, you're dealing with bandits or goblins, and by the end, you're taking on Orcus. Funny enough, all of this happens within roughly a month. If you think about it, 31 sessions mean 31 long rests.
To be honest, I don't like this progression very much. Normally I prefer campaigns in which the characters have to save themselves rather than others and defeat a common enemy, not a god.
We like taking our time. Hell we have had sometimes 3 sessions in a row multiple times with nothing but non quest based rp. I also do not cater to power fantasy gamers
Lol it just takes being transparent about expecations! I didnt know my two best roleplayers till they joined my game! I also make a point to find the right people, not just friends. The people who know what kind of game i wanna run and share the same desires. Is your group mostly friends?
