When the aerospace have to scale back their workforce due to cancelled contracts, guess where the engineers will go? We are going to have major brain drain in this country as many of our scientists make a mass exodus to countries that will capitalize on their talents.

Happy to read Canada only bought 16 American jets. Canada is building ships & some other equipment but hopefully more will be done internally. Go with the Swedish fighters if they will allow to be built & maintained in Canada. I don't think Canada will ever trust any American government again.

I agree, I hope they invest heavily in drones. We see what is happening in Ukraine , Most of the damage is being done by long range missiles and drones. The F35 is an awesome aircraft but we need to be thinking about bang for our buck both figuratively and literally

Having fighter planes from 2 different providers, usually USA + European, is what NATO/EU Mediterranean countries (Greece, Italy, Spain...) have been doing for decades.
They know what is the USA forbidding you to use "their" planes in case of conflict.

Not even sure about its future either as there is work under way at developing radars that can pick up stealth jets by using longer wavelengths. If the stealth advantage is lost what real value does it have in comparison?
