A month ago, the idea that the new German chancellor would talk about "independence from the US" would have been unbelievable

Tesla $TSLA now down more than 30% since its December 18 all-time high 📉 Ugly looking chart 🚨

i think this is basically what has happened a big chunk of the american pundit class

imagine the excruciating conversations that had to take place before publishing this headline

this is absolutely it, we had a boss early on at my old job who sat around playing Sekiro all day (without ever getting good at it) and he did the same thing. we eventually did a coup on him and got him out of the company btw

This isn’t drugs. This is him assuming other people don’t work because he doesn’t do that much work. Very common bad boss behavior. bsky.app/profile/rcma...

FUCK ELON MUSK

😕

BESPOKE: “On a 12-month average basis, .. Housing Starts have completely rolled over from their peak .. “.. Recessions have always followed a rollover in Housing Starts, and the only question is timing.” 🇺🇸

turning a a big dial taht says 'ketamine dose' on it and constantly looking back at the audience for approval like a contestant on the price is right

Gregg is a former Marine and Forest Service ranger. He's saved the lives of hikers dangling off a cliff or going through cardiac arrest, and he's bravely fought forest fires to save small rural towns. 100% of his salary is paid by WA state. Elon fired him. Share his story.

Coming around to the view that a certain kind of narcissist simply needs Musk to be a genius rather than a fraud, because they want to believe there’s a hereditary Brahmin class of accomplished, beautiful minds—and that they’re a part of that class.

no one has commented it yet but the notion that great and intelligent men are necessarily bad, flawed, and/or dangerous seems like an important insight into these people’s worldview

For Trump it was a joke by Obama.

Around 80 % of Germans didn't vote for the Radical Right.

This is the best analogy for how our government is being run that I’ve ever heard. Musk is shedding federal agencies in absurd ways so he can tweet about it and get rapturous applause from his neo-Nazi fanbase.

The guy who essentially just won the next chancellorship, Friedrich Merz, has been doing a press tour for the past week or so talking about how America under Trump can’t be trusted and promising to investigate Musk for meddling in the German election.

Rep. Nick Begich (R-Alaska) told constituents that there was nothing he could do to stop DOGE layoffs affecting people in his state. Says said he found out about budget cuts impacting Alaska "on Twitter" and "had no idea these things were going on" in advance. popular.info/p/freshman-c...

You can do better than a legacy failson who looks like a high school David Mitchell, Alaska. Or maybe not.

Besides the national security disaster of doing this, take a look at the photo of the man asking for this information. I would not trust him to mail a package of old books for me. www.washingtonpost.com/nation/2025/...

It’s a problem for DOGE because Musk’s authority relies on the consensus that his demands are irresistible, since he has no formal authority. Demonstrated resistance with no real consequence shows people they can just ignore him. Potentially fatal to his endeavor

New — State Department employees have been instructed *not* to reply to OPM’s 5 bullet email, per an email I reviewed, saying leadership “will respond on behalf of the Department.”

It's hard to laugh at it but a kind of bleakly funny throughline in all this is that it's being overseen by people who 1) have never had any kind of real job, 2) don't know what these particular jobs are or might entail and haven't asked, and 3) are absolutely convinced that they are fake.

Elon getting ratioed on his own platform 👌

It is our patriotic duty to make sure Elon knows he’s getting, to borrow a phrase, absolutely cucked by the Pentagon

LOL

It’s notable that Trump cabinet secretaries and agency heads, for the most part, are acting more interested in preserving their own prerogatives against Musk’s illegal intrusions than Republican members of Congress are.

What the fuck were they thinking

Last time he was in office everyone around me thought Trump wouldn't finish his term. I thought he would. And, he did. This time around, due to age and loose canonism, I think it's going to unravel. I think the chances of this Congress turning on him is high, especially when we approach midterms.

Oh this won't age well for him.
