A few weeks ago I was looking up new, I think it was Creature Collection games? And had both the new NBA 2k game and Black Ops 6 as some of the top results
YES i was showing my friends through discord the games i wanted to get on the next sale and i had to directly search the names because the tag is filled to the brim with labour simulators
I think the confusion comes from immersive Sims being typically a subgenre of RPGs rather than a subgenre of "sim" games (SimCity, Truck Simulator, Theme Hospital, Papers Please) like the name would imply.
Which is a weird space because "Role-playing games" can already mean both:
"immerse yourself in a role" (Daggerfall, Baldurs Gate) and "story driven + leveling progression system" (most JRPGs)....genres can be messy I guess, especially when Steam decides what they mean based on users clearly NOT looking for those games when they type "immersive sim"
I saw a video on YouTube about “shovelware” and these new simulator games are like those low quality licensed games in the early 2000’s. I couldn’t agree more.
TCG card simulator isn't even good in it's own genre, let alone the one it's poaching. Hell, it's on the opposite side of the simulator games spectrum from immersive sims.
That's the issue with letting the community assign tags to stuff. I'd rather tags be something only devs could assign, or at least let me sort games only by dev-assigned tags.

TCG Card Shop Sim is pretty good, but its in early access and not sure its as immersive as you want. Ripping packs and setting your stock is fun tho

This sucks.
