I’m pretty happy with the names that got chosen TBH. “The Overground” was a mess by the end, too many lines to live under a single umbrella label. I’m also already getting used to where they all are, even if I do only really ever use the Weaver and Windrush Lines.
The ONLY thing I want to hear is that any overground lines that also had sections that were beneath the surface at least had "The Womble Line" as a considered name.
Was there ever a plan to give them easily memorable numbers in the style of a German S-Bahn, and to do the same with the Tube? Or would that just be unEnglish?
Well if you get bored, you can look at the venerable Urban 75 forum (of Brixton) and see what may be the earliest forum complaint about no Brixton East station
I remember at some point reading / being told about the lack of a direct interchange there was down to the cost of rebuilding the bridge and the need for lifts, shame East Brixton station was shuttered in the 1970s now.
How bona it would have been to vada the Polari Line on a TfL map... (although I confess I find the new names confusing and part of me wishes they were geographical in some way.)
