I, too, would like a post-mortem. But I doubt that this is the cause of one of the stated issues (some people being unable to upload). Some images not loading could have a large number of root causes.
But I doubt anything was irretrievably lost (backups, etc).
Yeah the last time they had a major crash a whole bunch I've stuff was lost. It's why I stopped posting sequential art on FA. I got tired of reconstructing stuff after another crash.
It's enough for them to communicate to the users what the broad-strokes issues were and how they're addressing the issue.
For example, my boss can explain the broad stuff I've done at work without needing to get a full play-by-play of every patient interaction I do. Meanwhile, I can keep working.
hang in there and make sure yall are taking stretch breaks too! thank you for all your hard work! (and sorry regular maintenance turned into such a headache! working in tech myself i know the struggle 😭)
I am moreso bothered by the fearmongering of "OMFG ALL MY SUBMISSIONS AND ACCOUNT ARE BEING DELETED!!111!" as if they don't have data backups or something.
The concept of backups doesn't seem to exist for a lot of artists, given the amount of "I lost 10 years worth of my art because my hard drive died!" Posts i see per year
Again, thank you so, SO much for everything you're doing. By all accounts, this is a big job. I'll live without FA for a few more hours if that's what needs to happen (frankly, I'm on it way too much as it is lol).
Hurray!
So sorry this happened to y'all -- obviously you guys all probably wanting to apologize to us, but I don't think it's your fault. Y'all have probably been working a lot trying to fix this and I just wanna say we appreciate it. Thank you!
This is good news! Even if we have to wait, at least we'll know more detailed things that are worth taking into account. Each of us is looking forward to returning to the furry community. Thanks. 💫
I was more pleased with this post, it's always good to see updates. I don't think it will last long, when the FA was hacked, they quickly restored everything!
... As someone who does it professionally, and has done for years - this is why changes get tested in a separate environment before release to production, with the ability to roll back if something breaks.
That's if this is something in FA's own infrastructure

Keep up the awesome work, take your time, and please don't strain yourselves; I've got stuff I can work on while I wait. ^w^
But I doubt anything was irretrievably lost (backups, etc).
Turns out there was an inode integer-rollover that caused undefined behavior.

Let's get the FA staff energy drinks and meals, they deserve them.
Sending you some more caffeine energy. ☕☕☕☕☕☕
That new down page is awesome btw!
The people doing the actual write up are probably not the same people fixing the actual code
They can tell people what happened at the same time the backend devs are hard at work fixing or finalizing a fix
I don't think people want a line by line breakdown of what code was fixed.
For example, my boss can explain the broad stuff I've done at work without needing to get a full play-by-play of every patient interaction I do. Meanwhile, I can keep working.
Patience is a virtue
Y'all mfs in the Twitter and Bsky replies need to go outside.
The site will be back. There's more to the world than the site. Go bask in some sunlight or something.
I need my daily furry waifu fix!
My soul will perish without it!
I know that I can't start my day without futa inflation oviposition vore of Krystal /s

Welcome to the rice fields, motherfuckers!
Fingers crossed things go smoothly for you! x
I will be watching this website with great interest
Hope everything works perfectly soon :D
I will not run rm -rf /*
Over and over again for the write up.
It's definitely not what went wrong, but it's a funny image for it.
So sorry this happened to y'all -- obviously you guys all probably wanting to apologize to us, but I don't think it's your fault. Y'all have probably been working a lot trying to fix this and I just wanna say we appreciate it. Thank you!
Can't wait to hear what went wrong in the good old spahetti-code.
I whish your tech team much trength!
If they managed to do that in a couple days then it is truly impressive.
Bugs in software development are like a hydra - you fix one bug and two more show up.
That's if this is something in FA's own infrastructure
Won't rule out the idea that the update may have been tested, but due to the bug only affecting "some" users, it was missed.
