Every time I start a game client there is a chance that my machine BSODs due to having a 14th gen intel CPU. For the first time in my life I am going AMD at the end of this month.

My i7-13700 is performing equally great after more than two years hammered in games.
My wife’s intel based PC though…
I'm disappointed that they tried to hide it.
Heck, I remember my first clear of Enter the Gungeon was ruined by that piece of crap BSODing on the final shot.
Very glad I've done the switch over and so far I don't see myself going back to Intel tbh
Intel handled this situation really bad and their replies for extended warranty, etc didn't give any hope for the near future
As for RISC isn't the "main issue" with that the associated cost? In which case, let's hope production and other associated cost for that will go doing in the future, too
With more (good) competition we'll benefit
RISC-V has just been asleep or overlooked for generalized use IMO, there may be a shift though, should ARM ever change their licensing, as RISC-V is open source.
If MS and Qualcomm didn’t swing and miss launching their laptop chips I think we would’ve seen a bigger shift
Wife's jobs have required her to buy PC laptops and the only thing I've insisted on is AMD
I recently build my first ever PC, using a Dutch PC part picker. When looking at graphics and processors, i decided to go with a AMD processor due to budget to price performance (On paper at least, i am not good with technical stuff)
Best decision ever lol
I ended up getting a 7900 (non x or x3d) turning PBO on for when it's needed.
Never looked back. Make sure your new bios is up to date first!
Current build 7900, 32Gb 6000Hz Ram (using PBO 2) and the same 3080 12G.
Either way, hopefully their graphics cards help out the midrange
Now I haven't watched the video yet, I will be, but we'll see what happens to Intel.
Of course a 9950X3D or 9900X3D would be a better choice, because AMD changed the package with CCD on top. But they won't be avaiable before end Jan/early Feb next year and Thor can't wait that long
If you're making your own pc just go AMD you are just burning money for nothing but brand loyalty since the ryzen 3000 series they have been ahead of intel in terms of price / performance.
Not that that would fix your bottled cpu, just prevent further degradation or damage in cpus that haven't experienced it yet.
I recommend an x3d model
I do think it does make my cpu usage always at max when I look in task manager and I'm barely running anything. Also wondering if I have an unknown malicious program that eats CPU
Might also want a load monitor, graphics aren't a good way to judge cpu load
Will make sure to update when I get the chance
What you've described doesn't sound normal, your CPU shouldn't be doing much while idle (my example with just Firefox open)
Question as well, since I've noticed is it that Chromium browsers eat CPU?
I use Opera GX. Wondering if that is a leading cause..
Easiest way to check is to do a fresh boot, wait a few minutes for everything to be loaded and running in the background, then check your CPU utilisation while in this idle state. Then compare with Opera open.
Worst thing is they won't replace damaged chips and be like "We don't care, people will buy our next gen anyway. In a few years no one will remember".
I just hope that Amd isn't getting lazy from the lack of valid competition.
Healthy competition is good for all.
We actually need intel to be at least somewhat competent if we want AMD to keep making good stuff.
As much as I like AMD, we can't just blindly trust that they won't get too greedy on top.
Back in the day I built all my rigs with AMD or Cyrix chips because I didn’t have money for Intel.
I’ve never built a desktop with Intel nor Nvidia parts.
Somehow I feel justified now.
I can upscale 8x in Topaz while playing Cyberpunk, walk away for a day and when I come back everything is still chugging away the way I left it.
Very happy, don’t miss Intel at all.
You either were paying attention to Steve's videos until now or just chose not to learn anything.
you should put an intel reference in heartbound lol
