I basically agree with you on all of this. What I object to is the people who want "abundance" to be our Political Brand at this precise moment in time, as if the problem with deliverism was the name. It's just YIMBY deliverism, and deliverism was both extremely good, and politically useless

I think the political project can actually now work in this environment
Trump has done the unpopular part of destroying. Democrats vision can now be on how to build back better, from the destruction of DOGE
"Most Brexiters say economic damage is ‘price worth paying’"
"A large proportion ... did not prioritise economic considerations ... Nearly 40% of Leave voters said that the loss of their own or a family member’s job would be “a price worth paying” for Brexit"
Turns out if you let developers build whatever they want, they build luxury high rises that actually raise the median price of rent
Hope you like TCE-induced cancer and birth defects with your luxury high rises. Oh, they also didn’t improve vacancy rates or rent burden in lower tranches despite what Asquith and YIMBY Urbanist hacks predicted

City Planning Commision and NYc council approve almost everything with results like what happened in Gowanus.
But tell me more about Austin, YIMBY
everyone wants to do the fun work of delivering results to the American people, and no one wants to do the drudgery of building a media/propaganda apparatus
