A major problem with the Biden admin is that there was never any actual delivery while he was in office because every shitbird with a lawyer could slow down implementation of IRA or CHIPs projects.

Plus building a shit ton of housing and slowing the mass outflow of people in blue states to red states is probably the only way to protect viable paths to the presidency right now. I get it, everything is fake and nothing matters, but you gotta pull yourself back a bit.

Deliverism would involve getting the 96,593 layers of bureaucracy out of the way. NEVI being done by states, most of whom had no infrastructure to administer such a program, is a good example. What did people think North Dakota or Wyoming was going to do with NEVI?

For deliverism to work electorally the President must 1. deliver wins in your neighborhood in time for the election and 2. make sure you know that it was him. Biden's policy failed on both measures.

In the 1800s you could buy votes with free beer but you actually need the beer.

This is the key distinction. Biden told people who he was going to help and then helped them (often the kind of people who matter in swing states) which was good policy but turned out to be shitty politics.

Trump tells you who to hate, says he’ll hurt them, & does. It’s terrible, but good politics.

Biden signed a TON of infrastructure spending early in his term (which is great!), but by the end almost no one has actually received rural broadband yet AND we're way behind on building EV chargers. So yeah, I don't think deliverism has actually been seriously attempted by the Biden admin.

Tearing down red tape isn’t going to work. They need to pass or use laws that involve state force liberals are uncomfortable with.

Yeah I’m sort of a both camp. The media environment is huge, but Dems also screw up material gains. You can’t mess up on all fronts at once.
