You're neglecting to mention that 5% includes civilian-related infrastructure from airports & ports to skytrains & bridges & telecom installations, not to mention salary increases for the well-deserving already-serving military.

Unless the military is converted into a highly trained corps for responding to climate disasters (fighting fires or floods and preparing for and cleaning up after any weather event), I'm not interested in my tax dollars paying for any of it. War is gratuitous destruction with no benefit for people.
