In four days this week, I wrote four blog entries. Every night, I've written code for public-interest projects. We cannot stop creating good things in favor of gaping at the destruction of other good things.
I know this is Bluesky where AI mostly gets dunked on, but as a quasi-public interest technologist, co-pilots have dramatically improved my skills as a partner. I often understand the structure but not all the syntax of team projects, and now I can ask more questions than is … professionally polite.
It’s like there’s an inverse relationship between the actual utility of any specific application of AI and the money being spent to market it and it’s public visibility.
I keep thinking about this for myself, my kids, and my students. There has to be real, physical, good things we do with our time and that is something hopeful and life-giving in some way
