Is this the year that I learn which one is "Notre Dahm" and which one is "Notre Dayme"? It just might be.

Cville folks: I've returned from a trip with renewed commitment to using public transportation. I see the SPOT app and UVA's Transloc... Wasn't there one that showed both? Any other recommendations are also welcome! I'm in the city and mostly will be using it in the city...

Consequences.

There is a LOT going on. If you are feeling overwhelmed and struggling with how to narrow down your activism/organizing focus, we have a One Million Experiments zine from our co-founder @prisonculture.bsky.social that can help you do just that. Making A Plan: millionexperiments.com/zines/making...

Here's your regular reminder to shut the fuck up! youtu.be/nWEpW6KOZDs?...

On April 28th, UVA received a letter from the US Department of Justice. (I will add alt text once I'm back at my desk)

Not sure how the Amazon API works but someone should create a plugin for Amazon that can show you the Tariff tax that Amazon is too afraid to publish.

Please highlight this story. ICE stormed into the wrong house, trashed the place, and made women/girls stand outside in the rain in their underwear. ICE also stole phones, laptops, and cash savings from the family, who moved to OKC two weeks ago. kfor.com/news/local/w...

There's a small team at the IRS, the Taxpayer Experience Office, that studies the needs of taxpayers and works to improve the IRS's forms, letters, emails, and website to be less confusing. That whole team was laid off today. The goal is to make taxes confusing & upsetting so people will hate them.

I'm in Copenhagen for a few days and today I was able to rent a bike for a few hours... The experience could not be more different when you have wide protected bike lanes and a culture of cycling. It was a delight! but so bittersweet feeling like we're really far from this in Cville.

You can’t say criminals don’t deserve due process when due process is the thing that decides if they're criminals. Otherwise you're just kidnapping people you don't like.

I've got good neighbors in Charlottesville. 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 dailyprogress.com/news/local/c...

Thank you Callsen and Deeds! This is welcome news in an extremely troubling event.

Meet in front of the Albemarle County Court House from 11am to 12 noon TODAY with sign, to protest warrantless kidnapping of our neighbors yesterday.

show up from 11am-noon at the Albemarle County Courthouse today to express our fury at the kidnapping of our neighbors by unidentified masked thugs.

Charlottesville is not taking this ICE abduction lying down. Some Quaker activists have called for a protest. TODAY (Wednesday) 11 a.m. - 12 noon in front of the Albemarle County Court House from 11am to 12 noon. Come with signs, to protest warrantless kidnapping of one of our neighbors yesterday.

Today, two local men were either seized by the Department of Homeland Security or abducted by imposters, but there seems to be no way to know which is the case, because both have the same MO. dailyprogress.com/news/local/c...

I sometimes think that I'm overusing the word "evil" when I talk about the actions of the Trump-Musk regime. Every day, it proves that I am not. This is grotesquely hateful & cruel. If it goes through, despairing children will die.

Fuuuuucccckkkkk ICE detains 2 men in Charlottesville courthouse raid dailyprogress.com/news/local/c...

Tired of getting spam messages only to find out it's Pete Hegseth adding me to group chats with classified materials

This is an obvious point, but cannot overstated. There is an enormous difference between deporting someone - where they get off a plane as a free citizen in their home country AND FUNNELING THEM INTO A BRUTAL PRISON FROM WHICH THEY HAVE NO CHANCE OF EVER EMERGING!!!

Opinion | Some Rules for Campus Resistance A 2012 governance fight at the University of Virginia offers lessons for other faculty who might need to host “a little rebellion” on their campus, Charles Mathewes writes. #HigherEd #EDUSky #AcademicSky bit.ly/4lxrwTq

Pssssttt…empirically informed historical research on resistance movements in various parts of the world shows it’s only 3% for 3 months. And every worker they fire, or that becomes unemployed, and all the students they dismiss, are more people who have time on their hands.

Oh my god you want me to find "evidence" before putting someone in jail? Every time?? Do you have any idea how long that would take

Zoom event registration is a form of data you might have, even if you don't think of yourself as having "datasets". Please consider deleting ASAP post-event if, demanded or stolen, event topic or reg fields out folks as IDing or interested in topics US gov has declared it is seeking+using for harm.

Cville/UVA folks, I made a feed for posts mentioning UVA/University of Virginia, that removes stuff about its sports teams (higher ed is being dismantled & I am not interested in who the new coach is) & other unrelated things (e.g. SPF UVA protection) so it's a bit easier to find university stuff:

The news comes days after the University of Virginia joined the growing list of U.S. colleges where the federal government under the Trump administration has canceled some international students' visas.
