So, let me get this right: MSNBC not only fired Joy Reid and Katie Phang, but also Ayman *and* Jonathan Capehart?? *And* Lester Holt is stepping down from NBC's anchor chair??

No. Not correct. Jonathan Capehart and Ayman are moving to host morning and evening editions of he show The Weekend, since those anchors are moving to Joy Reid’s spot.
As I said up thread, I stand corrected. *But also,* the blow is that these people, all people of color, have either lost their own shows altogether, have shows that will garner less exposure, or have lost positions with great exposure. 1/
I hear you and I’m not arguing but just to say 2 of the 3 folks replacing Joy are black; the third is Latina, their show is good and they’re very outspoken & direct about Trump etc. I can’t really know msnbc’s true motivation.. it will come out in time.. just like to keep the scorecard visible.
Also, as I said above, these losses are coming when Trump and others in his administration are making policies that are resegregating the U.S. and companies are going along with the program. NBC's reshuffling has the same effect, regardless of the reasoning or the reassigned jobs. 2/
Reid is a huge loss. But other than her, it looks to me more like a reshuffle & consolidation to make their operations leaner as part of their spinoff from NBC & Comcast.
I get what you're getting at. The blow is that these people, all people of color, have either lost their own shows altogether, have shows that will garner less exposure, or have lost positions with great exposure. 1/
I didn’t realize until I read it this morning that Maddow & Wagner shared a crew. So when they fired Wagner’s crew, they also fired Maddow’s and are making them reapply.

MSNBC dropped Hasan's show back in *November 2023.* Hassan then announced his departure from the network in *January 2024.* So, I didn't forget him because he's not part of the network's latest removal of news hosts of color with their own shows. It's *that* group of people I'm talking about.

José Días-Balart Reports also gets canceled with Miami closure and he moves to Weekend Nightly News.
Capehart moves to a 7am airing of The Weekend.

The whole thing has been so really poorly too.

Please forgive me for copying your post. I have no good excuse, so I won't try to offer one. I apologize.
