Yup. If you're a soldier, you'll be told where you'll be deployed and the objective of your individual unit the day of the operation. That's it. If you aren't capable of trusting that your C.O. knows what they're doing without knowing more than that... you are not cut out for life in the military.

Mor often than not, two-letter abbreviations should have periods, especially when the resulting acronym could spell a word or word fragment. Trademarks (like AP) are exempt and word abbreviations like ID are too.

(My dad was a journalist and trained me on AP style and libel as a teen)

Also, I want on record that I hate AP rules. Like for the time, you have to have periods for AM and PM but ONLY when following the numerals like this 9:30 a.m. and 4:20 p.m.

Yeah AP style is frustrating like that. Humanity moves on without it honestly. But for American journalism, it's where you start to try to be as clear as you can but more importantly, the libel part. You don't want to be sued for misrepresenting an important name, company or title.

Also the fact that the First Order was clearly tracking them through hyperspace, which SHOULD be impossible, makes the possibility that they have a spy on board leaking their location EXTREMELY likely.

Extra op-sec procedures make logical sense in that case.
