I just knew TikTock as that app where all those controversial challenges and trends come from. Whenever an incident happens, somehow it almost always originated from there.
There is no free speech slippery slope here. The law never demanded that tiktok shut down in the US, just that it stop being owned by a foreign adversary. Imagine if tiktok was owned by a Russian company instead.
Then that’s still fine? Frankly I’m way concerned about the country I live in having my data than I am a country half way across the world with no reason to give a shit about me.

People were doing dumb shit like that with YouTube. How do you think Jake and Logan Paul got famous. But TikTok did have some amazing creators who taught so many actual good stuff. TikTok was more than dancing, cats, and memes.
Indeed. As I said in another post, I hope it's banned long enough that people realize there's more to life, than doom scrolling. Moderation is needed in society. Some don't realize they need it. Saying that as a person who struggled with internet addiction for years. Only recently learning to let go

I feel like @legaleagle.bsky.social is fully capable of supporting the first amendment vigorously while also pointing out how absurd some of that speech can be in a very joking kind of way. They are not mutually exclusive and we can laugh at the same time we cry.
