The real goal of blue sky is still ultimately profit-driven. Better alternative to twitter, but what if there was a platform with some form of collective ownership?

the scammers at tribel social have used wefunder to seek out investors. you can buy a piece of that
(note: wefunder uses SPVs, so you do not directly buy a piece of that). https://archive.ph/kOmHw
Actually, by hosting it yourself, you do own the content, Bluesky merely points to it. I suppose if you’re looking for a truly decentralized platform, Mastodon is it, but folks like me who are far too dense to figure it out will probably stick with Bluesky.
Bluesky is a benefit corporation (so not profit-driven), and the ATProrocol is fully open source. You can run your own BSky server (like a website) and your own aggregator.
Benefit corporations are profit-driven, they just have stated goals of having a "positive impact on society"
I don't hate bluesky. I just know that in our lovely system called capitalism, that profit margin is always incentivized, and will eventually run counter to the public good in some form.
Yeah my point is "The public square" would ideally not be a business.
I'm not saying bluesky is horrible. I'm glad that the market is giving us an alternative, but its still not at the core, a fully decentralized platform. Its a business with a CEO.

but you don't own any of it or have any decision making power in how bluesky is run.
