Lack of critical thinking. Religious people are frequently incapable of reading something and rejecting it. That’s why they are so easy to persuade to give money to rich people and believe GOP dogma.
I attended Catholic school as a child and was traumatized by all the bad things that could happen to me if I was bad. Never the love of Jesus, only the heavy hand of God was taught. I'm better now after leaving the church and no longer believe in the imaginary man in the sky or the fires of hell.
Religion is the root cause of our issues right now. Too many people brainwashed and told to "just believe". They believe anything they're told, and have absolutely no critical thinking skills. Religion is just a way to control the masses.
Reasons like that is why I joined TST(The Satanic Temple). They/we actively fight and challenge religious groups especially for equality, and they very much so fight for women's rights, that just made me love them even more and we mostly don't believe in God or Satan.
Not hugely controversial view: Religion is an authoritarian cult spreading mental illness. Okay, not all religions and not all the time but here's the thing. While freedom to indulge your religion is a protected right there's a tiny case law caveat: "religion has no place in the law". Oops.
The very concept of religious education is an oxymoron.
Education is meant to teach children how to think, not what to think. If you do the latter, it is not education; it is indoctrination and certainly should not be publicly subsidised.
Quite. The fact so many historical rulers appointed themselves the head of the church should be a clue to what religions purpose is i.e. the Roman Empire, the British monarch, and Putin. The Head of the Russian Orthodox church is ex KGB who takes his orders from the Kremlin!
Governments should not be financially outsourcing welfare support, health, aged care or education to church groups, many being horribly trans & homophobic religious groups.
We should not subjugate our most vulnerable to indoctrination, grooming and bullying just so they can survive.
Deeply religious people are convinced that their list of rules and prohibitions are ideally suited to everyone except themselves. They prefer a savior who tells bad people they are good, and that he hates the same people he hates.
This! 👏👏👏
People don’t understand why I struggle with hyper religious people. Those are the people who hurt me and there is no trust for couching behavior in religious motivation.
It is child abuse to indoctrinate your offspring into believing in fairy tales and to build a world view based on those fairy tales that effect everyone else. If you are dumb enough to believe god talks to you or there is one that cares a fuck about you, you are a narcisist and need an intervention.
Fairs. We were always encouraged to make our own minds up about things. Never to take anything at face value. Always ask why they are telling you these things.

We know something the others don't giving a false sense of superiority.

If you are turning kids away because of religion, culture, gender, abilities, sexuality
You should not be getting those peoples taxes.

Faith is your personal view on the world. Religion is what happens when people
weaponise it to control you.
People with faith are usually good.
Faith and religion tends towards good.
The danger is religion without faith. Indoctrination.
If i can convince you to accept absurdities in the face of evidence I can get you to commit atrocities in the face of suffering.
