Maybe also time to debunk the idea that it was made by 30 people. There is 30 people in the course design studio, but check the credits, there is significantly more than 30 people in there
It’s in reference to how some folks got hired off Reddit and SoundCloud which is good!!! But clearly specific circumstances where strong foundations were in place.
I've come to learn that a surprisingly large amount of people never practice critical thinking or "how was this made?" muscles when enjoying content... And that is how naivety is so widespread. Like, not everyone needs to have dev experience, but logical sense..... 🫠
I do think it's important for studios to be more willing to hire juniors and people that may not have direct industry experience AS WELL as the professionals for sure though, it sucks seeing that every job listing is for seniors when new talent can bring so much to the table
Very true! I also wish more studios would give mid levels the support they need to become seniors rather than just continuing to only look to hire seniors
A VERY experienced team of leads (including the much-touted “bored” game director - who came from Ubisoft!) was able to mentor the juniors. Which rules; that’s how games teams SHOULD be
They also did a ton of outsourcing. It wasn’t “a team of 30”
So, and again, I don't understand the outsource side of things from a business perspective but it feels like we don't discuss outsourcing enough as an industry when it comes to AAA games and the ignoring may be a part of that? Maybe I'm overthinking this.
