Quick poll!
Without looking it up, how many John Denver songs can you name off the top of your head?
No cheating! I'm checking this to settle a bet.

Country Roads, leaving on a jet plane, rocky mountain high and the lesser known Forest Lawn.
It took an embarrassing amount of time to remember who that was, as someone that doesn't remember musicians or actors.
But I can almost guarantee I've heard a few
Sweet Surrender
Leaving On a Jet Plane
Sunshine On My Shoulders
Thank God I'm a Country Boy
I admit I had to pause because I was about to accidentally throw some Johnny Rivers and Carpenters songs in there.

I am an exception my brother listens to them a lot. XD
7 (9 if you count his covers of mother nature's son and let it be)
Im more upset by the amount of people saying who tho
I think that John Denver is, these days, pretty obscure. Not that he's not talented or that his music is bad! Just that the average person really doesn't know who he is because that type of music doesn't get heavy replays
But from interacting with the public at large, I've found the majority of people just don't care who makes our music.
We like songs, & label people who can recall the artists effortlessly as "extreme enthusiasts" because of how unusual that is

Outside of a few big name artists and some modern stand outs, as well as its almost consistant popularity within certain states, country is not a particially popular genre within the sphere of modern music
Yeah I know I'm throwing off the curve.

Most (all?) of these are off Back Home Again, Greatest Hits, or Seasons of the Heart.
He also had that Christmas album with the muppets, which was WILD.

Excluding that, 1 or 2
