I was never a fan, but I found him interesting. But I realized he was all mouth and trousers well before the transphobia and the fascism really ramped up - maybe around the third or fourth Mars promise.
I was never a "fan" per se, but I definitely soured on him when he put that car into space, then I actively became a hater when he was abusing his daughter online.
Don't remember exactly when, but there was a point when I realized that Elon was simply not funny at all in spite of the reputation he developed as a "funny meme man".
His acquisition of Twitter and involvement in politics certainly didn't help either.
Probably his transphobia, but the point where I realised he was fucking stupid -as in genuinely low intelligence- is when he demanded twitter employees PRINT OFF CODE for him to "review". Literally below mollusk level programming ability
The submarine thing made he realize he was kind of a dick and that made it easier for me to turn against him when it came out that he was forcing sick employees to go to work during the pandemic. In fact the submarine thing was probably our first true look at an uncensored Elon
Probably when he took over Twitter and screwed up on levels not thought possible. The guy has been online since the 90s and he sucks at running a site.
At least SpaceX can still go on without his input because those guys are doing something right when a Falcon 9 booster lands 25 times.
I didn't actively give a shit about him, but the moment he pulled the submarine pedo thing it was obvious he was nuts. Oh, and I remember someone doing a full breakdown on the failure of his weird car tunnels, that was pretty informative as well.
Like many others here it was when he suggested that stupid stainless steel submersible to rescue those trapped kids and then smeared that cave diver as a "pedo guy"
I wouldn't say I was ever a fan, but I did used to think the hate on him was overblown. I thought when he was working just on Space X and Tesla, he was just a weird cringe billionaire, but I did somewhat respect what he was trying to push.
I think he has shown his true colors lately, though.
The Thai diver pedo thing I guess but I was always more of a fan of his companies than him specifically and his assholery started to leak into that for the first time with the rising transphobia.
How he handled Twitter and his comments becoming more and more stranger while letting people become increasing more vile, apathetic, and literally harass people irl over their social media account. Then everything happened last month, if it wasn't the new years start on ALOT of morally bankrupt
And corrupt bs. Literally at my own work at the same time has been antagonizing my husband, gf, and i constantly to the point alot of people getting pissed off and vocal with them since they're so scummy.
Wouldn't call myself a fan before that, but probably the begining of the spacex era. By that time his head was the size of a ballon and spewing hot air all the time. Became obvious that he isn't going to use his money for the betterment of mankind, just for profit.
I think I recall the first time I've started to dislike him was when he hosted a meme review on Pewdiepie's channel.
Something felt off about the whole thing, and I thought that he was just doing this to "get hip with the youngsters"
He looked and behaved like a reptilian in that video.

Although his cars ignite in much more spectacular fashion, so perhaps I should reassess.

Told me how much of an ego maniac he was right there.
Then decides to turn sour on the world because he couldn't accept how his son turned into a daughter of his! I guess he wasn't an iron man after all 😁
Before that, on paper, he actually seemed interesting and okay-ish for a rich guy.
Was when he started speaking and getting openly involved in sociopolitical discourse that he ruined that veneer for himself.
Some of the projects he was investing in at the time seemed interesting, from a very, very entry-level understanding/perspective.
This is going back almost a decade ago though.
