Saw your slides asked for photos from the wild...Caterpillar used to give out rapid selection paper computers to help sell marine engines, this is only 1 of 3 that should be in the set...by the 1990s, their field manuals listed the underlying equations.

5. an EXTREMELY accomplished Geography professor telling us during the Q&A that she and her friends used to make slide wheels from craft paper in elementary school to pair up the boys and girls (which led to a long conversation about all the terms for cootie catchers 🤭)

5a. I couldn't remember what we used to call them in German elementary school but luckily a German colleague was in the audience and reminded me it was "Himmel und Hoelle" which means "heaven and hell," Germans are SO FUCKING METAL ISTG
