I’ve been in Iceland for an amazing two weeks and have to go home tomorrow but all I want is to stay here and eat delicious fish stew for the rest of my life

Biggest things I can think of: make sure you have lots of waterproof clothes (it is a VERY rainy place), always make dinner reservations, and budget way more than you think for food! It's quite an expensive place to eat -- at least compared to Canada -- and it surprised us at first.
Thank you. Can you give a rough estimate on what food can cost per day? We will only be there for 5 days. $100 p/d? $200 p/d? This is something my friend & I are trying to figure out before we go. We know to get duty free alcohol at the airport when we get there, so that's one hurdle.😊
I recommend going to Bonus or Kronan store, buy yourself bread, delicious Icelandic butter, cheese & ham slices (or whatever!) & skyr, make your own lunches, and save your money for dinners. If you're in Rvk, Cafe Loki by Hallgrimskirkja is v reasonable. If on road, Olís burgers are yum & gd value!🍔
Also Deig does a great lunch offer, Brauð do a fantastic cinnamon roll (kanill snúður), the Bæjarins Bestu hotdogs are cheap & yummy (ask for one with everything!) & I also recommend a visit to Omnom for divine choc & ice cream creations! Pick up free Rvk Grapevine newspaper for more +happy hours 😊
We found it variable depending what part of the country we were in, but generally speaking we spent ~$60 on lunches, dinners ~$100. (this is total for 2 people in Canadian dollars); our breakfasts were provided by B&Bs
One person $200 p/d will for sure do it, and $100 p/d will probably be too low
