I think some of it can be explained by the wellness to conspiracy theory pipeline which also exists on the left - and people in this pipeline do not generally have a coherent set of examined beliefs.

Exactly. And she was so clearly Sus even then. I remember so clearly all these lefty men praising her and comparing her to HRC— apparently because she was a hot surfer.
