Please explain why we still cap social security payments at $176,100 in salary? Why should a hard working American earning $176,100 / Year pay the same in Social Security as Elon Musk? The solvency problem would be gone tomorrow.
There are people out here...me, for one...who have no income other than the pittance we get from Social Security. If I can't pay my bills, if I can't buy food, Elon Musk needs to explain to me how that's helping the economy.

Wouldn't touch Elon. He doesn't take an income. All his compensation is in cap gains. So really we need to reclass capital gains (at least some) as income first.
Buuuuuuuut are taxed at a different rate...and only if you cash them out rather than sitting on them or (more likely) trading them tax free in lieu of paying taxable money for a thing. Not pretending to be an expert but this is all fairly well known and established as a tactic.

The long term sustainability of social security is a problem, as demographic and economic changes have acted to throw forecasted revenues as out of sync with benefits. But slash and burn is NOT the way to address this. Elon and the muskrats must be stopped
